Content planning

A 30-day social media content plan for a small business

Short answer

Plan by week, not by day. Give each week one theme — introduce, educate, prove, sell — and rotate five post types inside it: product, how-to, proof, behind-the-scenes and offer. Make all the content for the month in one sitting (videos and flyers together), schedule it, and spend the rest of the month replying to customers. Posting three to five times a week consistently beats posting every day for one week and then stopping.

Why plan a month at once?

Most small businesses post in bursts: busy for a week, then silent for three. Planning a month in advance removes the daily "what do I post?" and keeps you visible, which matters more than any single viral post.

The four weekly themes

WeekThemeGoal
1IntroduceWho you are, what you sell, who it is for
2EducateHow to use, how to choose, common mistakes
3ProveDeliveries, reviews, before-and-after (honest ones)
4SellOffers, bundles, deadlines, best-sellers

What should you post inside each week?

  • Product post — one item, price, how to order
  • How-to — a quick tip that shows expertise
  • Proof — a real delivery or customer message (with permission)
  • Behind the scenes — packing, cooking, making
  • Offer — a clear reason to buy this week

How do you make a month of content in one afternoon?

  1. List 8–12 products or topics for the month.
  2. Write one short script per video — hook, problem, solution, call to action.
  3. Make the videos and matching flyers in one session, so colours and contact details are consistent.
  4. Schedule posts with each platform's own scheduler.
  5. Keep a few spare posts for slow days.

With DINEX UGC, a 20-second presenter video is ₦15,000 and flyers come in four sizes from the same saved business profile.

How do you know if the plan is working?

Track messages, orders and repeat customers, not just likes. At the end of the month, keep the post types that brought enquiries and replace the ones that did not.

How often should a small business post?

Three to five times a week is a realistic, sustainable target for most small teams. Consistency matters more than volume.

Which platform should I start with?

The one your customers already use to buy from you — often WhatsApp and Instagram, then TikTok for reach. See How to sell on WhatsApp Status: a simple weekly plan.
